'Italy With Us' was established by Helen Donegan in 1998 after falling in love with Italy some years earlier during a school trip as a child.
"I came here for the first time on a school trip from Belfast in Ireland as a 13-year old. Immediately, I knew this was where I belonged. After that trip, I couldn't wait to spend my free time between school and university here. It feels like I have spent all my life in Italy and I am incredibly lucky. I have lived all over Italy and for a large part in Perugia where my son was born in 1992. I've learned so much about the language, it's amazing history and culture. I love everything here, the colours and the weather, the joy of life and the warmth of the people, the food, the smell of strong espresso drifting from nearby Cafes and of course the wine! This is where I am meant to be - the home of my soul. The beauty of each Italian region is stunningly different from the others - each has its own attractions and special dishes, each can offer a complete range of attractions and yet is an intregral part of the wonderful country know as Italy.
